The secret of choosing the right spa service for you

Going to the spa could be a bit confusing for a first time client.  Whether its the various types of massages offered or the different spa packages that may sound like a cocktail rather than an actual pamper service, you can get lost and overwhelmed.  Here is a description of massage services that may be offered in a common spa:

Swedish Massage (Relax) - This massage is best for relaxation of the mind and body.  It includes a range of light to medium pressure with long, slow hand strokes of the muscles of the back, neck, scalp, arms, hands, legs, feet and chest.

Deep Tissue Massage (Stimulate/Restore) - This massage is used to stimulate and correct issues in the muscles.  The pressure is a bit harder than a Swedish massage, ranging from medium-deep to deep.  This massage can cover just one specific area or the whole body.  There is a mixture of long palm and forearm strokes and short thumb strokes applied during this massage.

Sports Massage (Stretches) - This is a series of stretches that uses minimal or no oil with strokes and manual stretches applied by both the client and the therapist.

Thai Massage (Intense stretching) - This is also a series of stretching, just like the Sports massage, but the stretches are performed on cushioned mats on the floor.

Hot Stone Massage (Heat therapy) - This massage includes heated lava stones used in the massage strokes applied by the therapist.  This massage loosens the muscles and relaxes the body.

Reflexology (Stimulate) - This massage is used to stimulate different areas of the hands and feet.  There are areas of the hands and feet that represent parts of the body.  The massage includes short hand and thumb strokes and thumb kneading.
